What to know about this collection
Stainless steel has three qualities that really matter in a chopper: it does not retain the smell of garlic or fish, it does not stain when in contact with turmeric or tomato, and it does not scratch under the blades even after hundreds of uses.
This selection covers both the small vertical models from 150 to 2,500 g, designed for spices, coffee, and dry grains, and the 300 ml to 5-liter bowls intended for meat and large quantities of vegetables. The oscillating versions, which move the bowl during grinding, prevent powder from accumulating in the corners.
Stainless steel bowl or vertical grinder: the two families of stainless steel choppers
Stainless steel bowl choppers work in pulses: rotating blades at the bottom of a bowl, for meat, vegetables, herbs, and cheese. It is the ultimate family format. The 2 L bowl with 4 blades covers the daily needs of a household of two to four people, and the 800 W with 3 L bowl and 6 blades handles large gatherings as well as batch cooking.
The vertical grinders, on the other hand, are designed for dry ingredients: spices, coffee, cereals, nuts. Their sealed bowl ranges from 150 g at 900 W for everyday spices to 800 g at 3,000 W, and up to 2,500 g on the largest model, to grind an entire supply in one session.
What stainless steel chopper capacity to choose?
For two people and occasional preparations, a compact 300 ml to 1-liter model is sufficient. For a family, aim for 2 to 3 liters so you do not have to chop in several batches. For spices, 150 to 300 g covers weekly use; beyond 500 g, you are entering the supply logic, grinding once and then storing in jars. Our guide to the stainless steel bowl or plastic bowl details the steel grades (304, 18/8) and the criteria that make the appliance last for years.
Frequently asked questions about stainless steel choppers
Does stainless steel retain odors?
No, that is its strength: garlic, fish, turmeric, nothing penetrates the surface. A wash in hot soapy water restores its like-new condition, and most bowls are dishwasher-safe.
Stainless steel bowl or glass bowl?
Stainless steel is lighter, unbreakable, and stain-resistant; glass allows you to monitor the texture without opening. Both are equal in terms of hygiene. Our guide to chopping in a glass bowl details its advantages, and the models with a glass bowl have their own selection.
What power for a stainless steel chopper?
300 to 500 W is sufficient for vegetables and tender meat; 800 W processes large quantities without overheating; from 900 W, the appliance grinds hard grains and spices continuously. All our electric models, including glass bowls and minis, are gathered in the electric chopper collection.
Can you chop meat in a stainless steel bowl chopper?
Yes, using short pulses and with very cold meat cut into cubes: it is ideal for stuffing, meatballs, or homemade ground beef. For several kilos at a time or for stuffing sausages, a meat grinder with a plate remains more suitable.
Can a stainless steel grinder grind coffee and hard grains?
Yes, that is its function: the vertical grinders in this selection, from 900 to 3,600 W, are designed for dry ingredients such as spices, coffee, cereals, and nuts. They are not suitable for wet foods or meat.
