What to know about this collection
Why use a French fry cutter instead of a knife?
Because fries of all sizes cook unevenly. Thin ones burn while thick ones remain hard in the center. A French fry cutter pushes the whole potato through a grid: all the fries come out with the same cross-section, in a single motion, and cook evenly in the oven, deep fryer, or air fryer.
It's also much faster. A bowl of fries for the whole family can be prepared in a few minutes, without a cutting board or the need for precision. The spiralizer works the same way with vegetables: a few turns of the crank, and a zucchini becomes a plate of spaghetti.
Which vegetables can be used in the French fry cutter and spiralizer?
Firm vegetables, and some fruits depending on the appliance.
- In the French fry cutter: potatoes, carrots, zucchini, cucumbers, and apples or pears in models designed for them
- In the press dicing cutter: onions, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, and hard cheese
- In the spiralizer: zucchini, carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, beets, and apples
- Avoid: soft or hollow vegetables such as tomatoes, which squash instead of being cut
The simple rule: trim the ends of the vegetable so it is perfectly straight, and choose a size that fits the appliance's opening.
Which type of French fry cutter or spiralizer should you choose?
The collection includes several mechanisms. They produce different results and take up different amounts of space.
| Type | Result | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| Lever-action French fry cutter with suction cups, 25 or 49 holes | Thick fries (about 1.3 cm) or thin fries (about 0.9 cm) | Regular homemade fries, oven-baked or deep-fried |
| Stainless steel lever-action French fry cutter, 2 grids | Classic or thin fries, one potato per push | Family meals |
| Professional French fry cutter on legs, 40 cm lever | Fries and diced vegetables, in a single vertical motion | Large quantities |
| 5-in-1 French fry cutter with potato corer | Straight or crinkle-cut fries, sticks, dice, apple wedges | Vegetables and fruit, children's snacks |
| 1.2 cm press dicing cutter | Regular sticks and dice | Onions, salads, stir-fries |
| Crank spiralizer, 4 or 5 blades | Spaghetti from 2 to 7 mm, ribbons, flat spirals | Zucchini spaghetti, spiralized carrots |
| Compact manual spiralizer | 2 julienne sizes | Small quantities, drawer storage |
| Tornado potato spiralizer | A continuous spiral that can be skewered | Homemade tornado potatoes |
For occasional fries, a lever-action model with suction cups is sufficient. For large quantities, the professional model on legs reduces the effort. As for spiralizers, the crank is faster when preparing several vegetables.

How to get evenly cut fries?
- Trim both ends of the potato so it stands straight in front of the grid.
- Choose potatoes close in size to the appliance's opening: if they are too large, they will get stuck; if they are too small, they will produce short fries.
- Press down on the lever in one smooth, steady motion, rather than in short bursts.
Then rinse the fries in cold water and dry them thoroughly before cooking: they will stick together less.
How to clean and maintain a French fry cutter or spiralizer?
Rinse the grid or blade immediately after use, before the starch dries, using soapy water and a brush. The blades are sharp: handle them carefully and keep them out of reach of children. Let them air-dry before reassembling or folding the appliance.
Frequently asked questions about French fry cutters and spiralizers
How many holes should you choose for your fries?
The fewer holes, the thicker the fries. A 25-hole grid produces fries about 1.3 cm thick, perfect for the oven. A 49-hole grid produces fries about 0.9 cm thick, which brown quickly in a deep fryer. Most of our French fry cutters come with two grids.
Can you cut dice with a French fry cutter?
Yes, with certain models: the professional French fry cutter on legs has a dicing grid, the 5-in-1 model also includes one, and the press dicing cutter produces cubes about 1.2 cm in size. For finer dice, onions, or garlic, our vegetable choppers are more precise.
What is a spiralizer used for in everyday cooking?
To replace some pasta with vegetables, prepare crunchy salads, or make interesting side dishes. Zucchini spaghetti can be stir-fried in two or three minutes, and spiralized carrots can be eaten raw.
French fry cutter or mandoline: which should you choose?
A French fry cutter cuts a whole potato into sticks in a single motion. A mandoline slices, shreds, and juliennes, one pass at a time. For large quantities of fries, a French fry cutter is faster; for chips, gratins, or raw vegetables, see our kitchen mandolines.
